Book Review - Dark Corners by Megan Goldin

Are you ready for another book review? Today it's Dark Corners, the second Rachel Krall book by Megan Goldin. Dark Corners tells the story of the true crime podcaster and how she becomes central to unravelling several murders and missing persons cases. The plot hinges around the disappearance of influencer Maddison Logan, and the upcoming release of convicted murderer Terrance Bailey.

Dark Corners includes chapters from Rachel's perspective, from her voice as a podcaster, and a third character - Thomas McCoy. I don't enjoy spoiling books that I review, so I'll just say that McCoy's perspective early on gives away the majority of the mystery.

Maddison had visited Terrance Bailey in prison just before her disappearance. The only clue the FBI has from this meeting was the name Rachel Krall. Rachel is the highlight of this book, for me. She is a smart character - witty, quick thinking, and while she does make some mistakes that are crucial to advancing the plot, she doesn't annoy me. Once involved in the case, Rachel goes undercover as a micro-influencer - her insight and ability to gain the trust of the other influencers is critical to breaking case.

The drama of the story goes right up to the very end. It's well paced, and it kept me engaged throughout - a perfect companion for my regular psoriatic arthritis infusion.
